On Thursday 22nd February 2018 (7.45pm) our guest speaker will be Colin Babb.
Colin will be joining us to discuss his book – They Gave the Crowd Plenty Fun (Hansib) – which reflects on the social impact of cricket on British Caribbean communities.
For some Caribbean migrants, and their descendants, who settled in Britain from the 1950s onwards, West Indies cricket offered a source of self-esteem providing them with an opportunity to express a collective sense of West Indian identity.
Colin is currently writing another book which focuses on his life as a British born Caribbean schoolboy and takes a close look at the 1973 West Indies tour of England.
Further information about Colin is available on his website
Signed copies of They Gave the Crowd Plenty Fun (Hansib) will be available for purchase on the night
